A passionate scientist with a great track record of developing innovative and sustainable enzymatic solutions joins the Allozymes team as our lead protein engineer!

Dr. Pradeep Nair joins us from the San Francisco Bay Area, where he spent the last 12 years in a number of cutting edge companies including Novozymes, Genentech, and most recently, Zymergen. After earning his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, Pradeep joined Genentech as a postdoctoral research fellow to work on pharmaceutical development. Along the way, he found his passion in protein engineering as a path to a more sustainable future. An avid fan of all things science, Allozymes’ new employee believes “the best perk of being a scientist is being paid to pursue your own curiosity”.

Pradeep was particularly drawn towards Allozymes’ vision for sustainable solutions, where our proprietary technology allows us to meet customer demands for highly desirable chemicals. Pradeep believes that Allozymes has exciting advantages in the biotech market, where a clear route to commercialization with our enzyme engineering capabilities allows for the creation of in-demand chemicals in a cleaner fashion. In Allozymes, he sees a natural personal fit, with his old technical love, droplet selection, being used to pursue a new passion, sustainable materials.

“The way we’ve been making chemicals for the last 50 years is not sustainable for the next 50. At Allozymes, I see an opportunity to create a viable alternative that is sustainable for the next 50 years and beyond. It involves a lot of technological development, but the pieces are here at Allozymes. I’m excited to be a part of the team to make it happen!” says Pradeep.

Welcome to the team Pradeep, we are excited to have you on board!
