We would love to welcome Dr. Tiago Resende to Allozymes!
Tiago is joining our team as a Senior Computational Biologist and he’s on a mission to leverage our impressive high-throughput platform with the integration of cloud-based systems, data science and bioinformatics.
With vast expertise in Bioengineering Systems, Tiago has degrees from the University of Minho and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, among other institutions. He comes to us from Amyris, Inc., where he worked as a Computational Biologist for many years.
Deeply interested in science and innovation, and with an entrepreneurial mindset, Tiago has obtained is PhD in Bioengineering Systems from the MIT-Portugal program in 2018. He conducted his PhD research both at the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology group, from University of Minho, and the Protein Modelling group, from Lisbon’s ITQB-NOVA University, where he worked on improving protein function predictions using enzyme structural information and machine learning. Along with having published work in both journals and conferences, Tiago has also successfully attained a patent on computational methods for in silico enzyme engineering.
Most recently, he worked at Amyris, Inc. for 3 years where he developed software and implemented bioinformatics tools for strain design and engineering.
“I’m thrilled to be part of Allozymes and join its mission to accelerate enzyme development for the sustainable future of industries. Looking forward to working with the team on leveraging Allozymes’ next generation platform with bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and cloud computing for the continuous improvement and delivery of high-performing enzymes.”
