
Patrick Tan Say Hwa is Senior Scientist at Allozymes, where he leads the microfluidics team and advances the company’s ultra-high-throughput screening capabilities for enzyme engineering.
A leading expert in droplet-based microfluidics with over 20 years of experience, Patrick has pioneered technologies that enable large-scale, high-resolution screening of biological systems. His work has been instrumental in bridging microfluidics innovation with real-world applications in drug discovery and enzyme development.
Patrick has held prestigious research fellowships, including the Griffith University Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Australian Research Council (ARC) DECRA Fellowship. He has authored over 50 scientific publications, with an H-index of 34 and more than 3,000 citations, and is widely recognised for his contributions to the field, including awards such as the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award, the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventor Award, and Lab on a Chip Emerging Investigator.
Patrick holds a PhD from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, and both a BEng and MEng from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
